Audible Editors’ Picks for 2013 (Romance)

Editors' Picks

Is time to pick favorites for the end of the year, and the results from Audible.com are in!

As usual my favorite listens from the past year are never the same; although, this time I have to agree more than I have the previous years.

Again, IMO audible has ignored some of the most enjoyable listens from the romance genre. To begin, where are all those fabulous Urban Fantasy titles? Or the incredibly well performed Historical Romances? I also don’t see any of the wonderful YA titles.

I understand they are not going to pick every audiobook on my list,  but I’d like to see more categories in the romance genre.

Anyhow, I like to share with you  Audible editors’ picks  for 2013 from the Romance Genre.

How many hove you listened to from their picks?

On Dublin Street by Samantha Young.

Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well – until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.

But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her…down to the very soul.

Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright

Taryn Warner is a wolf shifter with extraordinary healing skills – and serious problems. First, her father is determined that she mate for life with a wolf shifter named Roscoe Weston, whom the feisty Taryn can’t stand. To make matters worse, she’s also been kidnapped by Trey Coleman, a dangerous alpha male from another pack. And as much as she wants to resist Trey, Taryn is incredibly, maddeningly attracted to him. When he makes her a tempting proposal that will benefit both of them, the strong-willed healer has to decide whether escaping an unwelcomed bond with Roscoe is worth the risks of mating with Trey, no matter how temporary their allegiance is intended to be.

Lover At Last by J.R. Ward

Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another….

Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: The male has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young – just as Qhuinn has always wanted for himself. It’s hard to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. As he’s learned firsthand.

Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions…but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together…finally become one.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is one my top favorites on audio, and Lover At last wasn’t the exception. As always, I loved the drama, the characters  and the fabulous narration by Jim Fragione.

This is book # 11 in the series.

The winner according to audible.com editors:

Beautiful Estranger by Christina Lauren

Narrated by Grace Grant & Jonathan R. Cole

Escaping a cheating ex, finance whiz Sara Dillon’s moved to New York City and is looking for excitement and passion without a lot of strings attached. So meeting the irresistible, sexy Brit at a dance club should have meant nothing more than a night’s fun. But the manner – and speed – with which he melts her inhibitions turns him from a one-time hookup into her Beautiful Stranger.

The whole city knows that Max Stella loves women, not that he’s ever found one he particularly wants to keep around. Despite pulling in plenty with his Wall Street bad-boy charm, it’s not until Sara – and the wild photos she lets him take of her – that he starts wondering if there’s someone for him outside of the bedroom.

Hooking up in places where anybody could catch them, the only thing scarier for Sara than getting caught in public is having Max get too close in private.

I refused to listen to this series when it first came out despite all the wonderful reviews from sources I trust, but I’m finally adding it to my TBR. I think they know what they’re talking about.

This is book # 2 in the Beautiful  Bastard Series.
