We meet Sue-Ellen early in the Dragon Point series. If you’ve started this series, you will remember her as the sister of Brandon Mercer, the hero of Becoming Dragon, the first book in the series. She leaves her mother and brother to go live with her rich Uncle Theo (aka Parker). She seems really happy, that is until she upsets her uncle.

The story starts off years ago. Sue-Ellen is snooping around in her uncle’s office to find a hidden door in the bookcase (doesn’t everyone want a secret room behind a bookcase? Why do only villains get to have these, I ask with all seriousness.) She finds a boy strapped to a hospital bed. She feels a connection to him and she stays with her uncle to stay with him.

I don’t want to say much more, because there are spoilers to earlier books in the series. I will just say that this continues to be a very fun and hilarious series by Eve Langlais but with dragons. Who doesn’t love dragons?

The one thing I will say that just a little bit disappointed about this story is that there is something about the characters that Eve has used before (and fairly recently, in a different series). I felt like I was reliving that book just a teeny bit. I do know that this one will be different, but still it disappointed me a bit. I still greatly loved this book even with that slight disappointment. I wouldn’t tell anyone who has already read the other series to not read this one or the other way around. I know that is very vague, but I’m trying to avoid spoilers for both series. I’m sorry if I’m going around in circles.

Dragon Foretold Narration

3.5 Hearts

Chandra Skyye continues with the narration of this series. I’ve written a ton of reviews with her narration. I like her, but I don’t love her. I don’t think her range of voices is very large, but she does a good job. I would like to see her bring out the humor a bit more.

Author Eve LanglaisHello, my name is Eve Langlais and I am an International Bestselling author who loves to write hot romance, usually with werewolves, cyborgs or aliens .

I should warn you, I have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. While well known for my shifter stories, I am also extremely partial to aliens, the kind who like to abduct humans and then drive them insane…with pleasure. Or do you like something a little darker, more serious? Then check out my cyborgs whose battle with humanity have captivated readers worldwide.

I’m Melanie and I live in Ohio. I have two horses and a dog. I’m an animal lover, avid book reader and audiobook listener. I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and listening to mostly fictional books in the paranormal genre, including Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Horror. My favorite paranormal creatures are shifters, doesn’t matter the flavor.

  1. Eve writes some very hot books. Steamy.

  2. One day I will try her books, one day

  3. See… more Eve books! It’s crazy!! Don’t they all tend to run together after a while? Is the writing style distinct between series?

  4. I know what you mean about that been there done that vibe even if it is subtle, it kind of ruins the book for you. YEs, I agree why can’t I run across a secret door?

    • Have you listened to Kodiak Point? That is the original series. Then Bitten Point spins off from it. This one spins off from Bitten Point. You can listen to just this one, but I recommend starting with Kodiak Point because it is great too.

  5. I get so far behind with her books and manage about three or four a year not even from the same series per se so I probably wouldn’t get the vibe or at least not much of it.

    Ah, the dragons sound great!

    Enjoyed your review, Melanie!

  6. Sorry you were a tad disappointed with this. I just picked up another book were the author (who I love) almost reused a character from another of her series and while it’s okay, it was…weird and kind of disappointing as well, just because I wanted something a bit more unique I think. Either way, this does sound like an author I need to add to my to be read list.

  7. I’m sorry this one disappointed you a bit. I know how you love her books. I hope it was just a fluke thing and her stories won’t seem to repeat anymore. I do have to read more of her. I feel like there is something I’m missing where I’m not making a connection. Probably that first book syndrome thing. I also may try reading her instead of listening. I think I may have had a problem with the narration of the ones I listened to.

  8. I haven’t seen this series Melanie, thanks for bringing it to my attention, and yes I too have had authors do that to me too. Nora Roberts is a good one to do that, but I’ve heard her new book Year One is totally different.

    • This series is a spin off. The first series is Kodiak Point, then it spins off into Bitten Point which spins off into this one. Each series can be read as a stand alone series, but I would recommend reading each book in the series in order. I really want to read Year One. I’ve never read Nora Roberts, but that one really caught my eye.

  9. it’s a bit too bad about the feeling you had regarding the characters but other than that it looks quite good

  10. Glad to hear that you still loved this audiobook despite your issues with the narrator and the character. Great review. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

  11. So, um, I actually have this one in audio for review. *hangs head* You know that directive I gave myself for putting Langlais in my queue? Yeah. This series will lead the list. 🙂

  12. A secret door in a bookcase does sound really cool. And that’s neat you already meet this main character in the first book and now get her story. I’ve read one of this authors’ books and funny does seem to be her style. Too bad there was something a tad too similar to one of her other books. Great review!
