My Thoughts

I really haven’t been a big fan of Romantic suspense until now. I had a chance to listen to some great books from this genre in the last few weeks, and I finally got to see why so many peeps love it.

Forgotten Sins Audiobook is the first book in The Sins Brothers series, and wow! I immediately got pulled into the plot with the mystery. Right away I wanted to know more about the hero, who at the beginning of the book is found badly beaten, and with amnesia. He can’t remember who he is, or anything about his past. With that, we get presented with a plot where we take glances at the past, get to live the drama of the present, and we form and idea of what the future might bring.

Josie felt crazy in-love with Shane from the moment she met him, but now when she has managed finally to go on with her life and has healed (a little bit) her broken heart, she’s confronted with the news that her husband, who disappeared without a trace 2 years ago has been found.

Slowly we get introduce to the world of these test tube babies (Sin Brothers) engineered to be the ultimate fighting machines. The Military plot is grounded and very believable.

I really liked the chemistry between the protagonists. I think having a common past made their relation really credible and authentic, they complemented each other well.

The author does a great job of manipulating your heart to mirror the heroine’s feelings and insecurities. This man broke her heart, and now she has to navigate the land of forgiveness.
it’s not very hard to see why Josie felt head over hills with Shane, he’s a TOTAL alpha male with an attitude that makes you feel like kicking him as often as you feel like devouring him.

This is a well written cocktail of suspense, action, mystery and romance, driven by a strong heroine and a hero that will pull your strings.

Al in all, this is a great and promising start to the Sin Brothers Series.

I have added this series to my TBR, and I can’t wait to listen to the next book, and to be honest, I had to stop myself a few times from buying the printed copy of the following book. I’m making a big effort to wait for the audio.

Forgotten Sins Audiobook Narration

Karen White is an experienced narrator, and with over 9 pages of audiobooks on audible, it’s easy to see why. So there isn’t much to criticize about her technique, so in this case it comes down to how much you enjoy her style.

Her interpretation of Shane was excellent; I clearly got his possessiveness, his strength, as well as his softer side.

Her rendition of Josie yields a strong heroine with relatable insecurities. I got a good understanding of her courage, and the end result is a very likable heroine.

Her array of voices for male and females alike is excellent. No complaints here about the male voices. They are delivered very naturally, I never got distracted or confused by any of the dialogue.

She conveys the right emotions, you clearly feel the suspenseful direction of the plot.

One thing I have to mention and this might be just my preference, I found some of the non-dialogue parts a little slow, sometimes sounding a little over dramatic, but I quickly fixed it by increasing the speed to 1.5, and from then on this narration was perfect.

I highly recommend this audio to any fan of Romantic suspense. The plot, the characters, and this great interpretation make Forgotten Sins a super entertaining listen.

I can’t wait to listen to next book 🙂
