Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

My thoughts

The snarkiness and the fun continues in full force, oh boy! This might be my favorite in the series thus far. It pained me to stop this audio book; I just didn’t want to be away for a second from this chapter in Charley’s life, from the moment I found her in her living room in her PJ’s, glued to the shopping network she had my absolute attention.

With one more mystery to solve, our favorite PI/ Grim Reaper takes us for another fantastic and entertaining ride, and once again it’s full of humor, friendly sarcasm, mystery, and nonstop action, but with one big difference; this time the heat has been turned up in Charley’s world. Yes, this one is hot!

There isn’t much I can say without giving  spoilers; however, I can honestly tell you, the writing is superb,  the characters are as enjoyable and real as ever.

The  plot has you going all over the place just to be cleanly and brilliantly  tied up in the end. Darynda Jones is a genius at weaving a tale that will have you glued to your iPod.

We see a lot of growth in the world, likewise with the characters. A lot is revealed about Charley, and we find out much more about her big role in this universe. Reyes is as mysterious and as hot as ever. I loved the progress in his relationship with Charley. We certainly get a lot Reye’s time in this one, and I loved every minute, this alone should have you running to get this new entry.

Again charley’s family has a big role, starting with her sister and her crazy father. The entire cast has plenty of contributions to put this new adventure on top; you won’t be disappointed; I guarantee you’ll love it.
Keep in mind that his is the fourth entry in the series, for maximum enjoyment I highly recommend starting  with the first novel,  First Grave on the Right.

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet Audiobook Narration

Here I go again, gushing my admiration for Lorelei King over her interpretation of a character – her grasp of Charley is nothing short of amazing – this is one of the few instances where I can honestly say that her portrayal is better matched than my inner voice.
She also does an excellent job with the entire cast; the differences are clear in the way they are conveyed, as well as, the tone in which they are delivered.
Reye’s voice in conjunction with the interpretation of his character is right on target. It’s not very often that I’m satisfied with a female narrator’s male voices, but no complaints at all here.
If you love the witty humor in these books, wait until you listen Lorelei king bring it to life, and deliver the snarky sarcasm with precision, and with the perfect timing to make these novels just an awesome listening experience.
