This novella picks up where Dragos Goes to Washington ends. Pia has to honor the deal that was made and spend a week in the light fae territory of Los Angeles. The light fae queen tries to talk persuade Pia to come at a later time, but Pia just wants to get it over with, so she insists on coming now. Dragos insists on following, even though he isn’t supposed to.

Come to find out, there are zombies in Hollywood. Dragos happens upon them while out shopping, can these two do nothing without running into trouble. In the process of fighting them, Dragos is bitten and is unable to turn into his dragon form or talk telepathically to anyone.

The Wyr and the light fae work together to try to resolve this new enemy. Pia and Dragos also work together to try to use Pia’s healing ability to heal Dragos. The problem is that Pia is on medication that is affecting her healing ability. She tries holding off as long as possible on taking the next dose of the meds so as to help heal Dragos, but she also doesn’t want to risk the entire reason she is taking the meds (purposely vague to avoid spoilers).

It was a nice quick read/listen. I enjoy my time with the Cuelebre family. They are one of my all-time favorite couples, not to mention the most unique in their wyr forms. I’m excited to see where the third novella that follows Liam takes us.

Pia Does Hollywood Audiobook Narration

Once again, Sophie Eastlake does a great job of narration. What can I say that I haven’t already said about her narration? Not much really. Great with the different character voices, both male and female. I do listen at an increased speed, this one even more than most. I think I listened at 1.5x. I normally listen at 1.25x. Anyway, I enjoyed the narration. I’ve only ever listened to this series. I’ve yet to read an Elder Races story. I will continue to stay with the audios.

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Thea Harrison resides in Colorado.  She wrote her first book, a romance, when she was nineteen, and had sixteen romances published under the name Amanda Carpenter.  She took a break from writing to collect a couple of graduate degrees and a grown child.

Thea writes in a variety of genres, including the award-winning paranormal Elder Races series and the Game of Shadows novels, and is currently at work on various new projects in sci-fi fantasy, paranormal and contemporary romance.

She adores animals and currently resides with two small dogs that have very large personalities.

I’m Melanie and I live in Ohio. I have two horses and a dog. I’m an animal lover, avid book reader and audiobook listener. I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and listening to mostly fictional books in the paranormal genre, including Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Horror. My favorite paranormal creatures are shifters, doesn’t matter the flavor.

  1. While I thought PIA DOES HOLLYWOOD was entertaining, it didn’t hold a candle to DRAGOS GOES TO WASHINGTON. Maybe it was because of how dismissive I felt they acted towards Liam in the beginning, IDK maybe I need to read the rest of the series but I feel they treat him differently because he is different. I’m glad you enjoyed this one 🙂

    • I thought the action in Dragos Goes to Washington had a better story, but I still enjoyed this one. Liam didn’t have much a story here. He gets the next novella, so I can’t wait to spend time with him.

  2. DRAGGGONNSSSS! I love the sound of this! <3 It sounds like it's chalk full of mystery and drama with the fact that the one guy, Dragos, can't talk to anyone telepathically or change into his dragon form due to his bite. That had to be super hard to get through. I'm glad you enjoyed this one and were able to really get into it lovely!

    Awesome review! xoxo

    • I love this series. I do recommend to start with book one, Dragon Bound. It starts with this same couple, which are my favorite couple. Not only do you have a DRAGON hero, Pia Wyr form is pretty cool too (I’m not giving any spoilers, you have to read Dragon Bound to learn what she is, and it’s very rare).

  3. I will read book one of this series this year. I have to! I need to check if they have the audio at the library, if not I’ll just grab it soon.

    • I hope you get a chance. I love Dragos and Pia. They are a fun couple.

  4. The books have a quirky sound to it, are these funny a la MHarper?

    • Not really. They have some chuckle moments, but nothing compared to Harper. I do enjoy them.

  5. Still haven’t started these yet, but they’re on the list. Glad the follow up novellas are still good. Zombies in Hollywood…sounds fun!

    • I love Dragos and Pia. Pia has a very unique shifter form. I won’t share so as not to spoil, but it is a lot of fun and very rare.

  6. Haha – I keep thinking of Debbie Does Dallas when I read this title. Sounds like it’s a nice addition to the series.

    • Ha!!! That is hilarious. It was fun, but not as much as Dragos Goes to Washington.

  7. aaaaah I’m so so so late! I have the 2 first books and I need, really need to read it… so late.

    • I have several series like that. So many series, so little time.

  8. I have the beginning of this series on audio but haven’t been able to start it yet. It sounds so good I can’t wait!

    • I so love Dragos and Pia. I can’t wait for you to learn about Pia’s Wyr form. 😀

  9. Always nice to get a little more time with favorites 😀

    • I know. I love novellas in some series for this reason. I don’t love all novellas, but if they feature favorite characters, it is great to spend time with them.

  10. Rats its a little late in this series for me to covet it, but I do 🙂

    • There are so many series I’m so far behind in. At least we know we will never run out of good books to read. 🙂

  11. Aways nice to return to the world Ms. Harrison has created and visit those characters again.

    • I will admit that this is a series that the books go up and down depending on if I like the couple. There hasn’t been a book that I’ve disliked, but I do like some more than others.

  12. I seriously need to pick up one of these! Great review!

    • Start with book one, Dragon Bound. It is a lot of fun. I love Dragos and Pia.

  13. It sounds like a good read with the zombies, dragons and fae and all the action and fighting. It sounds like a fun series. Is this a series that follows one couple? I assumed so from your review, but wasn’t sure.

    • No, this is a standard PNR that follows a different couple in each book. She has done two sets of these novellas though that follow the original family (since it the son also gets a book). They are the royal family of the series and also the most loved, so it gives her a chance to spend more time with them.

      • Okay thanks for clarifying that! Having different members of the same family be the main characters sounds fun!

  14. Thea Harrison is a new to me author, and this series sounds like another one I’d enjoy. * Sigh * I wish I had more time to read!

    • I know, I feel the same way. So many authors, so little time. It is one reason I started purging some series that weren’t living up to what I wanted any more. Make room for me to try some new things.

  15. I had to come read this review because I love Pia and Dragos! I’m glad you had a good time with this novella, Melanie. It sounds as though there’s plenty of action and suspense. I need to make time to get back to this series. So many series I’m behind in. 😉

    • I’m behind on a ton of series and even more that I haven’t even started yet. There are entirely too many great series out there. #FirstWorldProblems LOL 🙂

  16. I seriously need to start this series. The characters and world excites me every time I see a review!

    • Dragos and Pia are so much fun. I like some of the other couples too.

  17. This is another series that has been on my TBR forever, Melanie! I hope I’ll be able to pick it up very soon 🙂
    Great review!

  18. This novella sounds interesting. I’ve been avoiding reading this novella set though because the whole Liam accelerated aging thing creeps me out.

    • Liam’s part is very small in this book and even in Dragos Goes to Washington. Both of these are pretty much Dragos and Pia with some of the sentinels.
