Mafia enforcer Aleksandr “The Siberian” Sevastyan’s loyalty to his boss is unwavering, until he meets the boss’ long-lost daughter, a curvy, tantalizing redhead who haunts his mind and heats his blood like no other. Ordered to protect her, Sevastyan will do anything to possess her as well – on his own wicked terms.

Rules are made to be broken.…

PhD student Natalie Porter had barely recovered from her first sight of the breathtakingly gorgeous Sevastyan before the professional hit man whisks her away to Russia, thrusting her into a world of extreme wealth and wanton pleasures. With every day she spends under his protection, she falls deeper under his masterful spell.

Are you ready to play?

Yet all is not as it seems. To remove Natalie from an enemy’s reach, Sevastyan spirits her into hiding. From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-wealthy in Paris, the two lovers will discover that even their darkest – and most forbidden – fantasies can come true.…

The Professional is a serial story, which means that it is a single story that is broken into parts.  This is part two of three.  In part one, we meet the main two characters of Natalie who is a college virgin who has an eager sexual appetite, but hasn’t been able to go all the way with a guy.  We also meet Sevastyan, who is an enforcer for her biological crime boss father.  He is sent to bring her to Russia to meet her father.  Part one ended in quite a cliffhanger and this book picks up right where that left off

In this part of the story, we see the struggle between Natalie and Sevastyan with their relationship.  If they consummate their relationship, they are together forever because of laws within the Russian mafia.  This makes things between them really hard.  There is also the part where Natalie has a great need to submit and Sevastyan has a great need to dominate, but he is terrified of hurting her.  This is a huge concern between them as well.  There are other issues as well, but I won’t give away any spoilers.  Lastly, there is another HUGE cliffhanger.

The professional – part 2 Audiobook Narration

By

Narrator Kimberly Alexis does another great job with the narration.  There are some really emotional parts in this part of the story and she nails the emotions really well.  I was very impressed, once again, with her performance.  I can’t want for the next finale.

I like to thank Simon & Schuster Audio for proving me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

    • I think she is better in this than in Anita Blake. She isn’t very good at French accents, much better at Russian.

    • Thanks. I listened to each piece separately and I wish I had waited and done it all at once. Normally I do, but decided to try it this way for this time. I don’t think I will do it again.

    • I thought they had it fixed. It looks like it gets further in the process, but still not all the way. 🙁

    • I will say that it took a little bit to get used to. You have to be careful of what scene you’re in if you have windows rolled down at a traffic light or through a drive-through. 🙂

    • I wish I had done it all at once. I wonder if they will release the audiobook as a single book?

  1. I am not a fan of this serial at all aside from the hot scenes. The plot was meh. First off, I’m tired of these so-called virgins who are better in the sack than the non-virgins. ML Simmons phrased it right that the heroine has an appetite for sex. Next, there’s BDSM or some sort of D/s theme going on. From what I understand, the “power” lies on the sub but here, Sevastyan holds the power and everything else. Idk, I just didn’t click with the characters… and yes I just told you what I feel 😛

    • I’m not a huge fan of the virgin thing either, but I didn’t mind how this one was handle. She wasn’t an innocent that avoided sex completely. She watched porn and had toys, so she had some experience, just not with another person.

I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy this book. But hey, not everything is for everyone, right. Hopefully, we can talk more about the next one. 🙂

  2. I love Kresley Cole, and I am definitely going to read this. I just gots to find the time 😉 I’m glad you’re liking it, and I’m hoping that you don’t have to wait for part 3 to be available in audio b/c that would suck. Just like cliffhangers (suck). Great review!

    • Thanks. I’m waiting for part three now. Yeah, I’m not a fan of cliffhangers. The one at thee end of this one isn’t as bad as the one at the end of part one. I think next time, I’ll wait to get everything and read/listen all at once.

    • So far, this one has been worth the wait, but I’m not a patient person as a general rule. I’m also not a fan of cliffhangers. That means, probably waiting for all of the book to come out before I try pieces again. I can barely wait when I read a great book and have to wait for the next book in the series, more less the next part of a book. At least with this, the wait is much shorter. 🙂

    • That’s okay. There is nothing wrong with that. I get bored with erotica sometimes too. If it doesn’t have great characters, then I can’t do it. I enjoyed the characters with this one, personally.

  3. I’m not a fan of serials (and I didn’t realize they did them in audiobook too), so if I do decide to read/listen to this one, I’ll prolly wait until all of the parts have been released.

    • This is the first audio serial I’ve seen, but then I usually avoid them, so there are probably others.all three parts are out now, so check it out.

  4. I starting to get tired of all the virgins and redheads in books like this. Seriously. I don’t usually like reading serials unless I can read them back to back. This sounds good though, despite the V&R thing.

    • I’m not usually a fan of the virgin thing either, but I didn’t mind this one. I don’t know that I’ve ever noticed the redhead thing. I guess I don’t pay as much attention to hair color.

    • It has been a great listen so far. I hope you enjoy. 🙂

  5. I have read some good reviews about the first part of this series, haven’t read that many about the second part yet. I am glad to hear you enjoyed it :). I am not a fan of cliffhanger endings, although I don’t mind them too much. They can be done well and make you eager for the next book.

    • Cliffhangers can work well and if I’m late to the game on a series I don’t mind them at all. I’m just not a patient person and don’t want to wait a year or so to get the next book when there is a cliffhanger. If done well, I don’t fault the author though. I understand. I just will whine about it. 🙂

I did love part two. Can’t wait to get to part three. I hope it will be soon.
