Mercy Thompson is one of my favorite series. I just love that little coyote and all of her friends. And boy, does she have a lot of friends. A big wig vampire in Italy finds out just how many friends she has when he rams a truck into her SUV and kidnaps her. He’s very lucky that she doesn’t die in that wreck or he wouldn’t have survived long. Mercy has entirely too many very powerful friends.

So this story has Mercy mostly away from her friends as she has to deal with this vampire that kidnapped her. And of course, being Mercy, things aren’t as simple as a standard kidnapping. It is much more complex than that.

So, in this story we learn more about Marsilia’s past. Also some more about Wolf. There is also some information on Zeke, the submissive werewolf. We also get some time with Honey, who is still mourning her mate, Peter. I think the hardest part of this for Honey was people bringing up Peter. There is also some time with some goblins. I loved having some time with Elizaveta and Stefan too. There is also another werewolf from another pack to help pilot the plane, Matt Smith (no he isn’t the Doctor, so many great Doctor Who references in this one).

This story isn’t just told from Mercy’s POV. It also has some parts told by Adam’s POV. Because we are seeing the story from both people’s POV, there are some issues with the timeline in this story. Patty Briggs brings this up at the beginning of the book. She’s also really good of putting a little note at the beginning of each chapter so you know who’s narrating this part of the story and where we are in the timeline.

This was another great addition to the series. I enjoyed spending time with all of these characters. Some of these characters are ones that don’t get a lot of page time, like Elizaveta and Marsilia (not as the bad guy). I also liked to get spend time with Larry and the goblins. There’s also meeting the werewolf pack in Prague. Just all around fun. 🙂

“The blue room should be adequate for The Goblin King.”
“We don’t call ourselves that.” said Larry dryly. “It was just that one movie. I mean ‘Larry, The Goblin King’ just doesn’t have the right ring to it.”

I had one response from benjamin.shaw@it.pnnl.gov. It said, “Oh my f*ucking god damn flying flying f*cking monkeys. Where? Are you safe? How did you get away? Did you get a f*cking away?
He used astrix for the swear words. Apparently his work had had a discussion about swear words in professional emails with him. Being Ben, he actually increased the swear words but added asterixis. It made me laugh, even as my eyes watered with relief.

Silence Fallen Audiobook Narration

I’m sure that most of you already know my love for Lorelei King. She’s a favorite narrator of mine. She once again nails the narration of this story. However, this time, she isn’t alone. Since there are parts told from Adam’s POV, someone decided we should have a male narrator do those pieces. I thought that George Newbern did a great job. I’ve never listened to him before, but I he did good with all the accents and everything from the male POV. If you haven’t tried this series one audio, you really must. It is an audio only series for me (not that this is surprising. I have a ton of audio only series LOL).
