2015 Audiobook Challenge Update (one)

2015 Audiobook Challenge Button

YAY! It’s time for the first update. I hope everyone is having a great time with the challenge. I’m thrilled to see more and more of you enjoying the awesomeness of audiobooks.

On my end, I’m doing just about the same as last year. Maybe just a little better because I’m not doing as many re-listens as I used to, due to the ton of new releases being thrown at me thanks to all the wonderful bloggers I follow.

Listening is my preferred format for reading, so I’m sure when it comes down to it, any of you has probably read as many books or more than I have – all mine happen to be all Audiobooks. Regardless I truly enjoy participating with all of you. I hope everyone is meeting their goals πŸ™‚

My Challenge Progress

My co-host, The Book Nympho is holding a giveaway for all the participants, so don't forget to head over her blog to enter.

I can't wait to check out your progress!

  1. WOW, Loupe, you’re doing so well! I’m behind, but I hope I’ll be able to catch up in the next quarter.
Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.

    • Just remember Lexxie that when you reading I’m listening, I seen you go though books like they are 2 pages πŸ™‚ I just do them on audio. I really should do a reading challenge instead..lol
I hope you have a terrific weekend!

  2. You were able to get quite a few in there! I had to laugh at myself as I walked the dog last night and listened, but I got so engrossed I stood outside my front door not wanting to go in and turn it off! My dog just did not understand why we were not going in! LOL

    • It’s easy now that everything I want to read is on audio. It’s amazing! I used have to wait for the new releases, but lucky for me, not anymore πŸ™‚
LOL Tanya, I can totally relate to that! I can’t tell you how many time I have driven pass my house b/c I was so into the book..lol

    • Thanks Paul! Just a junkie with an ample supply of my favorite fix.

  3. 43 audiobooks in the 1st quarter! That’s incredible Loupe! So many great ones too. Confess and The Raven are on my soon to listen list.

    • It’s really just about what I did last year. I listened to 150+ audios, but this time I didn’t listen any super long like The Outlander series..LOL I slow down in the summer months, in the winter I stay indoors a lot..lol
I hope you enjoy those two books! I listened to Confess was one of the books I finished the same day, she always manage to pull me away πŸ™‚

  4. Wonderful listens! You have a lot that I want to listen to. I still need to get to One Plus One! I’m also on the waitlist for The Girl on the Train at the library. πŸ™‚

    • I think you gonna like One Plus One Grace! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about The Girl on the Train, it quietly grabbed me πŸ™‚

  5. Thanks for hopping over, Loupe πŸ™‚ Your count is amazing! Slow start for me, lots of hard copy review requests to get through

    • I understand Cathy, I just do audios so is easy for me to rack up the count, plus I don’t review as many as I should…It takes me for ever to write a review (with all the correcting I need to do..lol) But I’ve started to do shorter reviews, so I might be able to review more.

    • I’m sure you have read a lot more books than I have Melissa, I read 1 book. It’s been all audiobooks for me, it’s easy when everything I want to read is now on audio too, just bad for my wallet..lol
I saw your progress and you are doing fantastic!

  6. You’ve listened to an amazing amount already and such a variety too. I’ve enjoyed reading your reviews on some of them.

I’m on track toward my goal and I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to move up a level this year. I linked to my Good Reads shelf b/c the tracker at our blog only tracks the books I’ve reviewed on the blog and not all of the ones I’ve listened to. I hope that’s alright. I do post the accurate numbers in my monthly wrap-up post that won’t go live until next week.
Looking forward to quarter 2! Good luck to everyone!

    • I saw your progress Sophia, and all kinds of new-to-me books. I have go and check out your reviews when I get a chance.
And thank you, you know me, all I do is listen πŸ™‚

  7. Impressive! I want to read Lestat within the year. I do need my dose of Anne Rice.

P.S. let me know if the new BDB is any good.

    • I will let you know about The Shadows πŸ™‚ If you’re a big fan or were a big fan I think you’ll enjoy Lestat. Just make sure you read the The Queen of the Damned before you get to this one.

  8. You are rocking the challenge my friend..so many good listens

    • Thanks Kimba! You know the audio junkie. BTW, I recently finished Flowers from the Storm, is a Historical, and I think you’d really enjoy that one.
You’re a big winner with your recommendations of The Girl in the Train and the Red Rising series πŸ™‚

  9. Great job! I haven’t had nearly as many this year.

    • Yeah Melanie! Because you’re been busy reviewing while I’ve been listening…What slacker Iam!
I saw your progress, you’re doing great! Plus you read πŸ˜‰

  10. Woah! You too did amazingly well! I am curious to learn your thoughts on Prince Lestat.

    • I enjoyed Lestat, it was 4 stars for me. It didn’t blow me away, but it was a good listen for me. I had forgotten how much attention Rice pays to small details. I was definitely taken back to that world. I would only urge to have read The Queen of the Damned before you listen to this one.
I think that if you’re a big fan of this series, you’ll enjoy it too.
The narrator did a good job with all the different accents and doesn’t lose you with the transitions.
      Thank you, I’m a total junkie πŸ™‚

      • Yeah…Anne Rice pays attention to all details. lol But I still love her. I have never tried listening to an audio of any of her books. I might start doing that with Interview with the Vampire as a re-read.

I bought Prince Lestat when it came out and I have yet to read it. If only there was more time…

  11. You are beating me by 1 (not that it is a competition but you know LOL) πŸ™‚ Actually I am going to try Girl on a Train pretty soon. I feel like I am safe to like or not like it now—I don’t do best with books everyone likes. First though I am listening to the latest JR Ward this weekend. Hold me, cause we all know that the BDB and I seem to be having a falling out.

    • My biggest slowdown comes in the summer months when we spend a lot time at the beach, I’m only 2 hours from Destin, FL so we go every weekend and it’s family time, not much time to listen then πŸ™
I hope you enjoy The Girl on the Train, at first I wasn’t crazy about it and then all of the sudden I couldn’t put it down. All I kept having in my head was the image Rene Z. from Briget Jone’s Dairy, let me know if you know what I mean when you listen..If, you saw that movie πŸ™‚
Well, I hope you enjoy it coz 22 hours is a lot if you don’t…eeek!

      • I probably won’t get any listening done in May (I am taking my mom to St. Augustine Beach for her 60th the first weekend, RT, and Dallas Comic Con) and once my project is over in April my listening should go down a bit too (or at least I hope my work hours slow).

Oh I will DNF if it doesn’t grab me πŸ™‚ LOL I am no longer afeared of the DNF πŸ™‚

  12. I’ve mostly been listening to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward, so I haven’t read as many books as I had last year. However, they are about 20-25 hours each, so they’re longer.

    • Ah! I wish I was you and experience those books for the first time again! That was one of my first series on audio, I listened to the first 2 and then I had to read to following 2 or 3 books b/c they didn’t have the audios back then, but you can bet I re-visit as soon as they came out, and I liked them more on on audio.
I hope you having a great time with the series, specially the first 10 books.
Those books are worth double!! πŸ™‚

  13. *Mouth hangs open* So many, and such great titles! You’re doing fantastic. I hope to catch up with this challenge too. πŸ˜‰

    • I can honestly say, I enjoyed most of the books I listened to, some more than others, but I didn’t DNF any of them, but spend a lot time following bloggers with the ARC’s and then I buy the audios..LOL so it’s mostly educated purchases.
There are a few ARCs (3) I gotten this year, those were on the blind, but I only requests from series I love.

  14. Damn, woman. Oh, you listened to Kiss the Sky! Did you review it? I’ll have to search. I know Hot House Flower recently came out on audio. Then Thrive. I hope your enjoying the series.

    • Did you see how many of your reviews are on my list? You are very, very bad for my wallet, I can’t wait for Normal BTW πŸ™‚
I haven’t reviewed it, I really enjoyed it. I will review in one my Audibook Salads – my way to post short reviews that don’t take me 6 hours to write b/c of all the gramma correcting I need to do…LOL If I could listen while I write the reviews I’d review every book..LOL

  15. I am 31 in this year so far! I just signed up for the challenge!!

    • That’s awesome Laurie!! I went to check out your progress, and see what goodies I could I add to my list, but I couldn’t find in on Goodreads πŸ™
I’ll try to go later when I get a chance and go through your profile to find it πŸ™‚
      Good job!!

      • Oh no! DId I link the wrong thing?? I added a new link to my READ shelf. Sorry I have never done this linking thing before and was not sure what exactly to link so I just did my profile!

  16. Great job!! I’m having so much fun doing the challenge!

    • I’m so glad Jen!!! And you’re doing great πŸ™‚ And guess what? Apparently was a big fan of your blog, I must have lost track somehow. I just didn’t put 2 an 2 together. A long, long time ago, before I discovered blogging I started a website, and I used to go around reading reviews _ to find the audio..lol (I still do that) and I would put a link to the best review I found on my website like this, look on the right hand side, best reviews πŸ™‚

      • That is awesome! Thanks for sharing. That was back when I had just started my blog. Things have changed a lot in the past 5 years!!

  17. Way to go, Loupe!! You are a listening machine. I’m going to tally up my audiobooks this weekend and see where I’m at. I’ve listened to about 6 of the books on your list and several others have caught my eye.
Hope the next quarter brings more hot audios your way! Happy listening πŸ™‚

    • How can I not Lucy?! Just about all new releases are on audio now! Thank God! My TBL is finally as long as the readers..lol
I just came back from your your site, and you’re doing just as good as expect a junkie to do πŸ™‚ Great job!
I just have to commit to reviewing more, and the Audiobok Salad might be the way to go for me.

  18. You are doing really well with this challenge! From your list I have read Shadow Study and All Lined Up, both were 4 star books for me. Beside listening to audiobooks, do you also read books?

    • It’s really not a challenge for me Lola, audiobooks it’s all I do. I used to read a lot more when books that caught my attention were not on audio, but this days pretty much everything is on audio. That’s why I say I should be doing a reading challenge instead..lol

  19. Woot! You’re doing great (no surprises there). I haven’t read ANY of the books you’ve listed, but quite a lot of them are on my list !

    • Yeah, it’s a lot easier now that almost everything I want is on audio. I’m gonna try to do small reviews, so I can do 4 at the time. A lot good listens πŸ™‚
      You’re doing great Berls!!!

  20. Ahhhhhh, I need to post my update! My week last week was full of crazy and I didn’t have time. I haven’t been listening (or reading) as much as I did last year but I’m listening to more than I read and I’m still loving it!

    • I don’t listen as much in the summertime, coz of the beach!! We go way just about every weekend and we are always doing something, so not much time to listen.
I can’t wait to see your update and see what goodies I can find πŸ™‚

  21. I think I missed the explanation of how to do the audiobook challenge. I’m not even sure from one date this year we are tracking our reads either, sorry! So far I listened to the following books:
    Running Barefoot by Amy Harmon
Conversion (Conversion #1) by SC Stephens
Bloodlines (Conversion #2) by SC Stephens
Clipped Wings (Clipped Wings #1) by Helena Hunting (a reread)
Inked Armor (Clipped Wings #2) by Helena Hunting (a reread)
City of Heavenly Fire (The Immortal Instruments #6) by Cassandra Clare
Love in Rewind by Tali Alexander
The Girl in 6E by Alessandra Torre
Foreplay (The Ivy Chronicles # 1) by Sophie Jordan (a reread)
Tease (The Ivy Chronicles # 2) by Sophie Jordan (a reread)
Wild by (The Ivy Chronicles # 3) by Sophie Jordan (a reread)
    Pulled by AL Jackson
Falling into You (Falling # 1) by Jasinda Wilder (a reread)
Saving Forever (Ever trilogy #3) by Jasinda Wilder (a reread)
The King by JR Ward (a reread)
    The Resistance by S.L. Scott
Can you re-explain the challenge or tell me where to go to see the explanation again? I clicked on the Challenge off to the right side of the page. Thanks! =)

    • First, let me tell ya, that’s a great list!! And you’re doing great πŸ™‚
About the updates, if you have a blog you can do quick post and then add the link to the linky we provided for the update. The idea is to share your update and maybe other peeps decide to hop around and see where everyone is at. If you don’t have a blog, you can keep track on shelve at Goodreads of Safari. Or you can use a facebook post and even a pinteres board will work. If you need any help with setting any of those let me know. I’ll be happy to help πŸ™‚

      • Thanks for explaining! I don’t have a blog so I’ll try to create a GoodRead shelf or Pin board this weekend. I’m racing against the clock trying to finish a book tonight and attend 2 book events and yet still get some sleep for work tomorrow. It’s looking impossible, haha! There is just not enough time for the book fun out there.
