After listening to several of Scarlett’s stories in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery series, I was glad to spend more time with Holly again. Don’t get me wrong, I love Scarlett and all of her ghost friends. I just missed all the other paranormal creatures in the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series.

In this story, Holly and the gang have yet another roommate in the manor. Narissa is a shifter. And the SPA (Supernatural Protection Agency) have asked Holly to keep an eye on her, because Narissa is a person of interest in a case of werewolf deaths.

This is another fun addition into the series. I enjoyed my time with the characters that I really love. We even get to have Holly talk with Lacey (it was nice to hear from her again). Cassie, the human best friend of Holly, is planning her wedding to the human, Chief of Police, Chief Lincoln. There is a bit of relationship drama between Adam and Holly as they discuss getting a place together outside the manor. There were also issues with Nick, as he shows interest in Narissa, the “person of interest” and Holly following the couple.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store next for the people of Beechwood Harbor, from whichever series. I do see that Danielle Garrett has a new series coming to audiobooks, A Touch of Magic Mysteries. I don’t know much about it, but Amanda Ronconi will be the narrator for that series, too. I can’t wait to see what that will be about. I love the Garrett/Ronconi pairing.

Amanda Ronconi is a queen when it comes to funny paranormal stories. She is one of my all-time favorites. She does such a great job in bringing out the humor in a story. I don’t really know how to describe it other than her “ability to bring out the humor in the story”, but she does it and does it extremely well. But, there you have it. If you haven’t tried her, I highly recommend her work.

From a young age, Danielle Garrett was obsessed with fantastic places and the stories set in them. As a lifelong bookworm, she’s gone on hundreds of adventures through the eyes of wizards, princesses, elves, and some rather wonderful everyday people as well.

Danielle now lives in Oregon and while she travels as often as possible, she wouldn’t call anywhere else home. She shares her life with her husband and their house full of animals, and when not writing, spends her time being a house servant for three extremely spoiled cats.

I’m Melanie and I live in Ohio. I have two horses and a dog. I’m an animal lover, avid book reader and audiobook listener. I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and listening to mostly fictional books in the paranormal genre, including Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Horror. My favorite paranormal creatures are shifters, doesn’t matter the flavor.

  1. Nice review. I also enjoyed getting back to Holly. I just wish she’d stop being so dumb at times. Haha. I hope there will be more to come!

  2. Yes I need to try a book like this. One day!

  3. I love when you not only love the main characters but the side characters as well. I haven’t heard of this series before, to be honest, but I’m glad it keeps getting better for you.

  4. Thanks Melanie for bringing this series back on my radar its one I have on my wish list and it just went up a rung 🙂

  5. Ronconi is amazing. I also love her Molly Harper narrations. This series sounds fun, I’ll have to keep it on my radar!

    • That she is. She’s the reason I decided to try this author.

  6. I recently started listening to this series and have really enjoyed it. In fact, I’m finished through book 5, so this is up next for me. Yay, glad to know you enjoyed it! What’s the other series you’re reading with Scarlet? I need to hop on that too! Great review!

    • Scarlett is a ghost series set in Beechwood Harbor. The Ghost Hunter Next Door is the first book in that series. Though the first time you see her is in Betwixt, which is an anthology set in Beechwood Harbor. Most of the stories are Holly, but there are some Scarlett stories too.

  7. I really need to try this author!

  8. Oooh this sounds like a fun listen 🙂 Thanks for sharing. I do love a good cozy mystery read.

    • This is the first cozy mystery I’ve tried. I need to find more, because I’m really enjoying them.

  9. I did everything backward and got caught up on Scarlet’s stories before starting Holly’s, but they’re all great. That other series is about Holly’s bestie back in Seattle and I’m hoping to get to those soon, too. 🙂
Did you get the chance to read the other spin off, Once Upon a Hallow’s Eve? I loved following our favorite testy vamp’s story. 🙂

    • I did read Once Upon a Hallow’s Eve. I really liked seeing her in a different light, because she was very stuffy in the original series.

  10. This sounds like a fun series and Ronconi does good paranormal. 😉 I’ll give this series a go sometime. 🙂

    • Ronconi does such a great job at bringing these kinds of characters to life.
