Wednesday, December 23rd – Best ________ Of 2015
(REMEMBER – this list MUST be from books you’ve READ in 2015)
These are in no particular order. They are too different and I love them all for different reasons.
Of course I would do narrators, this is an audiobook blog, so it made sense.

Updated 1/23/16:

This post now only has top 9. I had to remove a narrator because of criminal actions that he plead guilty to. If you would like to learn more about this person, you can go here, here, and here.

I’m Melanie and I live in Ohio. I have two horses and a dog. I’m an animal lover, avid book reader and audiobook listener. I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and listening to mostly fictional books in the paranormal genre, including Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Horror. My favorite paranormal creatures are shifters, doesn’t matter the flavor.

  1. RC Bray and Lorelei King would have topped my narrator list – those 2 are perfect for those books and really make them come alive.

    • They are both great. I listen to two series with Lorelei King. I’ve only listened to The Martian with R.C. Bray, but I will be looking for more with him.

      • Thrilled to be on your list, Melanie! 🙂 xx

    • Thank you so much, Heather! 🙂 x

  2. Thanks for sharing your fave narrators, Melanie! It’s so important to have a good narrator when listening to an audiobook!
    Happy Holidays 🙂

    • I completely agree. A narrator can make or break an audiobook. I’ve audiobooks that I’ve listened to because I liked the narrator more than the story. I’ve had audiobooks that I’ve quit listening to because the narrator was so bad I couldn’t take it any more. I almost didn’t read the Cut & Run series because the narrator of the first book was so bad. Luckily, I was convinced to pick up the book and read it. They got a new narrator by book three.

  3. Thanks so much for including me, Melanie! And I love the snow on your blog…so cool.
Here’s to more fun audiobooks in 2016!

    • Thanks! I need to pick back up the Dark Protector series. I’m still holding out that there might be a spinoff of the Sin Brothers series too. 🙂 I’m always excited for more audiobooks!

      • I know, but for the Sin Brothers those boys they found will have to grow up 😉
You should try the Dark Protectors! Slightly different vibe with the paranormal, but I think you’d like it.

    • The list could’ve been longer. If I started doing honorable mentions, I would’ve had 20+, so I was sure not to do any. But, I love all of these so much. I would pick up a book from any of these based on the narrator without knowing the author. I’ve actually done that with three of these.

  4. I can’t believe that I didn’t listen to more Phil Gigante this year! He will always top my list.

    • I’m sorry to report that I’ve had to remove Phil Gigante from this list. He has had criminal charges against him which I just can’t justify promoting him any more. If you want to know more, there are links to post on this post with more information.

  5. I usually only listen to autobiographies, but I’ve heard a lot of great things about the narrator for the Kate Daniel series (which I love!) and also the Martian!
    Lovely list (:

    • I’ve listened to a few autobiographies. I really enjoyed Kevin Smith’s and Cary Elwes (memoire about the making of The Princess Bride).

  6. Harper is fun to listen too even if took me WEEKS to finish a novella. lol

    Happy holidays!

    • I love Molly Harper books on audio. Amanda Ronconi does a great job with the series. I need to find something else she has narrated.

  7. Great list and I’ll have to do this next year! I love Tavia Gilbert and I’ve heard that Robert Petkoff is really good.

    • Robert Petkoff is wonderful. He does a great job with Immortals After Dark series. I’ve also listened to him read a Thriller/Suspense (Those Who Wish Me Dead by Michael Koryta) and I loved it.

  8. Great topic choice. R.C. Bray would have been on my list as well.

    • Thanks Samantha. I thought it was appropriate for an audiobook blog. Plus, I will try new authors based on the narrators. I’ve done that with three narrators on this list and would try with any of them if I run across a book that looks interesting. A good narrator can make or break an audiobook for me. Thanks for stopping by.

  9. It definitely makes sense to list your favourite narrators on an audiobook. I still haven’t listened to an audiobook so far, but it does sound like having a good narrator can really add something to the story.

    • Narrators can make or break an audio. I’ve listened to books that I would probably not have finished because I loved the narration so much.

  10. I can’t recall listening to any of these narrators even though I’ve listened to 100s of audios over the years. I’m pretty sure I haven’t, but I’m hoping to make up for that in 2016. I really need to get back to audios.

    • I hope you get a chance to try some of these. They are all great narrators. You could join our audiobook challenge to get you back into audiobooks if you want. We do giveaways for each six month wrap up post that we will do this year.

  11. I have to completely agree with you on Allison McLemore for WTZ! She is amazing!

And holy crap! Lorelei commented on being on the list. How freakin’ cool is that! She is so great at narrating everything she does!!!

    • Sorry for the late reply. I have no idea how I missed it. I know. I was so amazed to have two of the narrators to comment on this post just floored me to pieces. I feel so honored. I love King, she is great.

  12. I agree. Tavia Gilbert is a perfect for the Accidental Demon Slayer series. I thank my lucky stars that she is narrating those books. She’s also a pure joy to work with.

    • Sorry for the late reply. I have no idea how I missed the comments on this post. I love Tavia Gilbert’s work. I love your books. She does a great job with them. I can’t wait to try Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series.
