2014 Audiobook Challenge Update

2014 Audiobook Challenge

I can’t believe the year is half over! I hope everyone is reaching their Audiobook listening goals. I have to say, this my best year yet, and it’s mostly because everything I want to read is being publish on audio, and even though is has been a very expensive year for me I have loved every minute of it. No more waiting for months or years for the books I added to my TBR (thanks to all the wonderful book bloggers out there) to be published on audio, most of them are being released at the same time as the printed version. YAY!

This listening thing just keeps getting better and better!

  1. Thanks for sharing Loupe, there are some great listens there and some I’ll definitely be adding to my aching leaning tower of tbrs πŸ™‚

    • I don’t read much. I think I’ve read 2 books in total this year. I used to read a lot more, but every year is been less and less. And now that almost everything is coming out on audio, I can’t find the time to read much.

  2. Ahhh, so many audiobooks! I love the Shatter Me books on audio, Clipped Wings and Inked Armor were amazing too. I’m so happy I joined this challenge although I suck with the updates. I might do a mid year post soon even though we’re in July. I’ve heard 59 audiobooks so far this year, yay! Thanks for the great recs and reviews πŸ™‚

  3. I just finished reading the print copy of Night Broken and I can’t wait to listen to the audio version.

    • Thanks Tabitha πŸ™‚ Every year I end up listening to more audiobooks than the previous year, and it’s mostly because more book are being publish on audio, the past few years that wasn’t the case. So now if a book I want to read is on audio (which is happening way more this year) I’ll get it right away. I can finish a book a lot quicker on audio too, cuz I can do a lot other thing while I’m listening. But I have only read 2 books this year, that’s my worst total ever.

  5. Wow, you have really done a lot of listening! I’m so jealous. I’m also glad to see that I’m not the only one Dark Witch did not appeal to and I totally LOVED Sixth Grave! I can’t wait to get started on How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove back by Diana Rowland and narrated by Allison McLemore! I have a page for my updates, but I am SO behind getting them all logged and reviewed.

    • But do you want to know how many books I’ve read this year? 2 only 2..LOL Everything I want to read is on audio now, my wish list is huge! I used to have to read because I never knew when the audio was going to come out, but now I read a review that makes want to read a book, and dam! there it is, waiting for me to download it..LOL
I was late with this post and I haven’t kept up with goodreads at all, I know I will one of these days, so I totally understand. I’m listening to our little zombie now πŸ™‚

    • Did you see my list a books I loved? A lot of those were your recommendations :)) You are a big reason why I keep buying audiobooks. Almost everything you loved I can find on audio now, I gonna go broke!..LOL Some of the one that didn’t work was mostly due to the narration πŸ™
I just noticed I don’t have Ann Bishop up there! I loved that book, I thought I had added it. I’m fixing that right away..lol

  6. WELP. One thing is for sure, if I ever get serious about audiobooks, I know where to come for narrator recs. We (me, you, AND Melanie) love the same books, so really that’s what it’s about for me. I’ve probably only listened to half a dozen audiobooks in my life, and one of those was for a favorite book, and the narrator . . . was just TERRIBLE. I just looked her up–Kate Reading (HA!). Have you ever listened to her? And hey, did you ever listen to Red Rising? I know you were waiting for the audio when the book came out . . . Anyhoots, great post! I actually joined audible b/c of you guys . . . I’m going to try to come up with some type of crafty thing I can do while listening . . . We’ll see πŸ˜‰

    • I’m surprised you didn’t enjoy her narration. She narrates Lord of Scoundrels and I really enjoyed it, in fact that’s on my list above in the book I loved. With that said, I didn’t enjoy her in the Host by Stephanie Meyers, but to be honest the book didn’t hit me the right way altogether πŸ™

  7. HELL YES on Sixth Grave & Written in My Own Heart’s Blood, but you forgot Murder of Crows. What the heck, Loupe?? πŸ˜‰ I’m only a couple of audios away from hitting the top level! I can’t believe I listened to that many audiobooks this year. Go me! Ooh, and go you too. LOL πŸ˜‰

    • Yes, Murder of Crows is supposed be up there. I noticed my error when Kimba mentioned it as one of her best listens. I was going to added and I got distracted, as always do whenever I get on line with a purpose ….LOL
I’m so proud of you!! And so happy that you’re enjoying audiobooks :))) Go Carmel, go Carmel! πŸ˜‰

  8. I didn’t get an actual post done on my progress, but I do have a page on my blog for my Audiobook progress so maybe that counts?!!

I think my favorite audiobooks so far this year is The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley and Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear. I loved the books and narrations! I’ve only reviewed 7 audiobooks so far though. πŸ™ This is within my goal, however!
