Behind the Scenes: Directing of Dramatized Audiobook

June is Audiobook Month. To celebrate, Penguin Random House Audio would like to share with you some behind the scenes video of the making of Louis L’Amour’s The Diamond of Jeru.

The Diamond of Jeru: The Story

Creating the audiobook

Directing an audio dramatization (shown below)

THE DIAMOND OF JERU is a full cast audio dramatization of a gritty adventure tale set in the jungles of Borneo during the 1950s. The story (about an American expat hired for a dangerous expedition to track down a rare gem) was discovered after 40 years in storage following L’Amour’s death, and the completed audio project has been a nearly 10-year labor of love for producer Beau L’Amour (Louis’s son). Hundreds of hours were spent collecting and recording authentic sound effects, and with original music and a 21-person cast, the result is a cinematic listening experience.
