Psy/Changeling series, book # 1

Whispersync for Voice-ready

Nalini Singh dives into a world torn apart by a powerful race with phenomenal powers of the mind-and none of the heart.

In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign ofdesire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of “rehabilitation” – the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was…

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion – and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remian bound to their identities – or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation.

My Thoughts

I first got introduced to Nalini  Singh with   The Guild Hunter series, and it’s among my favorites, now thanks to my friends on Goodreads  I’ve discovered another one of her series that everyone seems to love titled  Psy/Changeling. There are 9 books published with the next one being released at the end of this month.

After reading so many good reviews I immediately added it to “ TBR”, but not even two weeks later I was so excited to find out  the audio version was soon to be released, and  of course I  decided to wait for it  and  just hope  that it would be a good listen… And indeed it was.

Now I know why this series is so widely popular; this a truly Paranormal Romance series – with all the elements you expect to find in such; a new couple in every installment, romance, steamy sex scenes, a fantastic world, excitement and mystery…yes  its got it all.

Lucas’s pack dynamics will ring somewhat comparable to other paranormal romances while having its own unique qualities, most notably their love for one another and family dynamics. The addition of the Psy brings to mind a more futuristic sense with their sparse and practical lifestyles, the world building is brilliant. This is a very distinctive spin on psychic powers.

This is the year 2079. Sascha Duncan is Psy, a race of people who live totally by their super-intelligent minds and have conditioned themselves from birth to feel no emotion. Anyone who is defective has their mind wiped in a dreaded “rehabilitation.” Needless to say after that they have no personality and are assigned to the lowest level jobs in the community. Sascha is terrified this is what is in store for her because her mind is deteriorating. Her every moment is filled with terror and  the fear  that she might slip up and show emotion.

I loved the moments Sascha and Lucas’s shared together, and each encounter was filled with passion and heat, I liked how the author slowly developed the relationship and  trust between the two characters. The sex scenes were steamy and sexy, but didn’t over power the plot. This author’s imagination extent is amazing and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense, honor, alpha characters, lust, love, a wonderful relatable female lead and an enjoyable cast of supporting characters

Salve to Sensation Audiobok Narration

This is my first listen by Angela Dawe, and I was  very impressed with the narration, she did an excellent job with all the characters, she  interpreted Sascha and Lucas with the exact personality you  would expect from the writing, the tone was perfect for the story. She nicelly conveyed  its  tension and mystery. If you are looking for a new series to enjoy, I highly recommend this listen, and if you’ve already read it and enjoyed it you won’t be disappointed with the audio version and the added dimension that  brings to the book.
