My Thoughts

Rapture Untamed isn’t nearly as dark as book three was, but it is not flowers and butterflies either. Jag is a badass warrior with an even worse attitude. He is always sarcastic and often crude. He taunts Tighe’s mate, Delaney, with what would be consider sexual harassment, if this was set in a normal office setting. He works hard to drive everyone away from him.

Olivia is another Therian that is part of a group of warriors, that while maybe not feral, are still elite. She is their leader of the group sent to assist the ferals in hunting the daemons that have been released. She is great at what she does. She also, isn’t what she seems. Olivia has a secret, one that will get her executed if anyone figures out what she is. She is a danger to everyone around her if she loses control or chooses to do the wrong thing. It is a secret she has lived with her entire life.

This book doesn’t have the big huge battles that the previous books have. That is not to say there are not battles, it just doesn’t have the “big” battle that you are building up to in the end. This book seemed to focus more about the issues that the hero and heroine have (and there are plenty) and the romance between them. The sex is hot and rough, as you would expect from a tortured hero and a heroine who isn’t afraid of him. This relationship starts off with lots of needling back and forth, but with Jag sees that Olivia can hold her own, he falls for her. Olivia makes Jag see things in himself that he has always covered up and really look at himself.

Rapture Untamed is my favorite book of the series so far, even though Jag is a jerk. He has the tortured hero thing going for him. It is still a very dark story for PNR, but not as bad as the previous book. It would be more like what you would expect from a UF book.

Rapture Untamed Audiobook Narration

I really enjoyed Shapiro in this book. Olivia has an on again, off again Scottish accent. He doesn’t have the best female Scottish accent that I’ve ever heard, but it isn’t bad. His ability to turn it on and off as her emotions take over is great. I think he had the timing just right for when she should have the accent and when she shouldn’t.

  1. I do like the way Rob Shapiro sounds on the samples. I haven’t listened to a whole audiobook narrated by him, but I think I could enjoy his narration.

    • I’m liking him more and more as I listen.

  2. Thanks for the great review. I like the things being said about this series. May have to give it a try 🙂

  3. Yay! Glad you’re keeping on with the series and you enjoyed this one.

    • I’ve really enjoyed this series. I can’t wait to see where it goes it next.

  4. Look at you tearing up Palmer’s Feral Warriors series! This one seems more on par with what I’ve come to expect from my PNR, less action and more romance. I’m not surprised to learn that this author’s trademark dark writing style is still at the forefront, but at least there was extra steam to help balance the story out a bit.

    • I really am enjoying the series and all the audios came out about a month apart. I have the next one on my iPod already, so should be interesting.

  5. Okay I need to get this series on audio, you’ve convinced me Melanie! Great review, I like that not every story is dark but has an edge…it keeps things interesting. 😉

    • This series is darker than most PNR, it has more of UF feel because of the darker side. As a huge fan of UF, that is a plus for me. 🙂

  6. This one sounds good, I am working on Kate Daniels audio now, and after that and Alpha and Omega I will start these.

    • You will love Kate Daniels and Alpha and Omega. Kate Daniels is one of my favorites of all time. I think you will enjoy all three series. Have fun. :0

  7. I have said it before, I really need to try this series again. I think maybe I wasn’t in the mood the first time I tried it.

    • It took me a little bit at first to really enjoy the series, but each book is better than the previous, IMO. I also think you have to be in the right mood for this, because it is not your typical PNR.

  8. Jag is a jerk eh? Good thing his douchieness didn’t ruin the book for you. The plot must be really awesome, Mel!

    • I like bad boy heroes. They are some of my favorite. Especially when they find the women who can give back to the hero. Olivia is great at that.

  9. What a JAGoff. Sorry, couldn’t resist. Glad you liked this one so much. That’s a good sign when the 4th book is the favorite.

    • Hahaha 🙂 I have always had a thing for bad boys.

  10. Glad you’re having such a great time with this series! I haven’t heard of it before but, I must say, your review piqued my interest… I’m not into audiobooks, but I most certainly will check the paperbacks for this series, which seems to be quite captivating. Thanks for reviewing, Melanie!

    • Thanks. I just hope that the series continues to grow. There is a total of eight books in the series, so I’m half way through and it is getting better and better. I hope you enjoy.

  11. Hot and sarcastic ? Me likey ! Thanks for sharing 🙂

    • If you like hot and sarcastic, then Jag is your man. I hope you enjoy.

  12. Ahhh I will start this series. I will. I will! lol Glad to see you’re enjoying these so much 😀
