This is the second story in the Touch of Magic Mysteries. This series follows magical wedding planner, Anastasia Winters. After listening to the second book in the series, I can say that I don’t enjoy this series as much as the other books I’ve read from Danielle Garrett. I think it comes from my dislike of weddings. While this series is more about the mysteries, there is still a lot about the wedding stuff (as per usual for cozy mysteries). I’ve never liked weddings. I was never a girl dreaming of a wedding as a child and when I did get married, it was at the courthouse in jeans.
In this story, someone attacks the notable wedding dress designer, which puts her in a coma-like state. Anastasia not only wants to help her friend, but also needs to help her clients who need dresses from the designer.
Even though I wasn’t a fan of the wedding parts of the story, I did enjoy the mystery and the characters are a lot of fun. It was the other things that made me still able to enjoy the story. I also like seeing things inside the Haven where no one has to hide their nature, unlike all the other stories, which take place in our world, that doesn’t know about magic, vampires and shifters.
I still have one more book in this series, which I will listen to for sure. I’m not sure if I will request any more in this series (at least not right now). Not because I don’t like the series, I’m just limited on the number of books I can listen to right now and there are a lot that I want to get caught up on. I will also continue with the other series by Garrett. I do feel that my issues are more of a me issue than the story.
Couture and Curses Audiobook Narration

Amanda Ronconi continues to knock it out of the park with the narration. It doesn’t seem to matter what you throw at her, she’s able to handle it I can’t say enough about her narration. Just try her if you haven’t yet.
From a young age, Danielle Garrett was obsessed with fantastic places and the stories set in them. As a lifelong bookworm, she’s gone on hundreds of adventures through the eyes of wizards, princesses, elves, and some rather wonderful everyday people as well.
Danielle now lives in Oregon and while she travels as often as possible, she wouldn’t call anywhere else home. She shares her life with her husband and their house full of animals, and when not writing, spends her time being a house servant for three extremely spoiled cats.

Sounds like you liked it. I can understand not having enough time to read all the books you want to, I’ve had that same problem.
So many books, so little time.
Oh you read many of them! I really need to try this author!
I’ve really enjoyed this author.
Yes I’ve been wanting to try this author but I noticed you liked her other series better than this one.
Yes, she has two other series that I’ve really enjoyed. One, follows a witch named Holly. The other is a woman who sees ghosts, named Scarlett. I’ve really enjoyed both of those series.
I do need to try Ronconi again, I have listened to like 2!
She is so much fun. I’ve listened to her with a few different authors and I’ve always loved her.
LOL, not liking weddings would definitely put a damper on enjoying this series. I’m equal on this one and Ghost series with the Magic series being my favorite.
I really love Holly and Scarlett. I think it is liking the world around them and the all the characters around them. With this series, I’m not a fan of the wedding thing, nor are there a lot of secondary characters that I like. I’ve still got book three to listen to, next.
I have the first book in this series and I’ve been curious about it. I definitely need to make time for it this year.
I hope you get a chance to try it. I do really like this author.
I am not a big fan of weddings either. We had similar weddings…at the courthouse in a pair of jeans! I do want to read this author but I might start with one of her other series.
I would recommend the series with Holly (witch) or Scarlett (ghost whisperer). Those are both a lot of fun.
Did you post this review someplace else? Because I feel like I read it already – or maybe it’s just because we talked about it. *shrugs* I liked this series a lot. But it’s good if it’s only 3 and done – I’d rather concentrate on Scarlet (I’m not happy with Holly’s books, especially after reading the last one.)
I’m not current with Holly, but I have it and will listen soon. I think we talked about this a bit via text.
I cringed, because I love this series, but then I saw your reasons and was like..totally get that!
I don’t dislike it, I just didn’t really like it a lot. I still love the other series.
I recently read one series by Danielle Garrett and I really enjoyed it, so I plan to read more. However, I can’t help but wonder if I also would like this one less – I’m not a wedding girl either. Courthouse marriage in black pants over here… After a good 11-12 years together! Sounds like otherwise the books are good though, so I will probably read them eventually. Great review
My husband and I had been together 22 years when we finally made it official, so I could be on his health insurance. It isn’t a bad series, I just think the others are way better. I’m glad you enjoyed the one that you read.
I enjoy reading this book so much, I highly recommend it to others, I can guarantee that you’ll enjoy it as well.
I love everything Danielle Garret has written so far. I even went to her website so I could read everything in order and get the full experience of the nods back and forth between Holly, Anastasia, and Scarlet. And Melanie Simmons – I, too, live in Ohio, have a horse, 3 sheep, and dog, and a 23 yr marriage. We have a lot in common! lol I discovered Danielle Garrett’s audio books when I was looking for something to listen to on my way back and forth to the barn.
