These are in no particular order. They are too different and I love them all for different reasons.

Melanie Simmons
I’m Melanie and I live in Ohio. I have two horses and a dog. I’m an animal lover, avid book reader and audiobook listener. I like to live vicariously through fictional characters. I enjoy reading and listening to mostly fictional books in the paranormal genre, including Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance and Horror. My favorite paranormal creatures are shifters, doesn’t matter the flavor.

  1. I loved the Bishop one! I need to try the others!

  2. I’ve seen Schism in a few top 10 lists already but I haven’t heard about it before. I’m familiar with the author though. Vision in Silver is also in my list! I can’t wait to read Marked in Flesh. I have only read the first five books in the Kate Daniels series but I’m glad to see Magic Shifts in your top 10 🙂

    • I highly recommend Schism, but you would need to read The Gifted Dead first. It is the first book in the series. Without it, you would be lost. It is a great series, but dark. It is marketed as Game of Thrones meets House of Cards. Lots of politics and magic.

  3. Oooh that reminds me that I need to grab Menagerie by Rachel Vincent! Thanks!! Great picks 😀

  4. Andrews always makes the list.

    • She is always on mine too. I had so many great reads this year. It was hard to narrow down.

  5. So many great titles on this list. I really loved Archangel’s Enigma and The Martian as well.

I still need to read Vision in Silver.

    • Vision of Silver was so good. You won’t be disappointed.

  6. I will always have an Andrews book on any list. Love them and can’t get enough. I finally plan to start Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series. I’m going to be doing that one for a Series Challenge. Total Surrender is on my TBR, it looks like it would be a great read. Wonderful picks for your Best Books of 2015

    • Thanks Angela. I think you will like the Guild Hunter series. Have you read her Psy/Changeling series. Both are great. Total Surrender was my favorite in the series.

      • Oh yes I’ve read her Psy/Changeling series I still need to read the latest one that came out, but I’m all caught up other then that. All my blogger friends keep telling me to try the Guild Hunter’s and I keep meaning to, but then another book gets in the way ^_^.

        • I know how that goes. I love both series so much. I couldn’t even tell you which I like better. When recommending, I tell people to choose based on shifters or angels/vampires (non-heavenly angels).

          • I’m sure I’m going to end up being the same. Loving both and will have to tell them the same thing when recommending.

  7. This is a great list! Menagerie is on my TBR list. Thanks for visiting my blog =)

    • You’re welcome. Menagerie is a read. I’ve never read anything like it.

  8. I have so many of those on my TBR list, I really need to move them up.

    • I thought they were all great books. The audios were great with the narrators too.

  9. Oh great list! I have some of these on my to-read list or earlier books in the series and have heard of some of the others. I heard great things about the Martian, although I am not sure if it’s a book for me. I own the first Anne Bishop book and really should read it soon as it sounds like a series I would enjoy. I own Menagerie, but haven’t read it yet.

    • The Martian was a fun book. I didn’t think I would like it either. TheBookaholicCat hounded me until I listened to it. It was so good. The movie was good too. Menagerie was great, but some people didn’t like it. It is pretty dark. Same with Anne Bishop’s series. I loved them both.

  10. Anne Bishop and Joe Hill, I wanted to read this year. Not sure why I didn’t yet but I heard such great things about those books. Awesome List!

    • So many books, so little time. There were a ton of books that I didn’t get to that I still want to read/listen. I did love both of those books, but they are dark.

  11. The Queen could have been on my list as well, Melanie, I loved it! And some of your other books that I’ve read are among the best of my 2015 reads, too, even if they didn’t make it to my favorite post 🙂

    • There were so many great books to choose from this year it has hard to pick. From the looks of it, it might be the same next year. I had a hard time picking my most anticipated books too.

  12. I just started Nalini Singh this year with the Psy-Changelings. I’m loving it so far. Almost caught up. I’m enjoying the narration too. Everyone is talking about The Martian, and I just don’t know why I haven’t picked it up yet. You have a great list there with a lot of goodies for me to try!

    • The Martian was probably the number one favorite. I actually listened to it twice. I listened again when DH and I were on a roadtrip. I hope you get a chance to try Guild Hunter. It is great on audio too. 🙂 Here’s to a great 2016!

  13. Awesome and useful list. I’ll surely pick the best book to boost my skills.
